Lahore, Apr.7 (ANI): Backing Shoaib Malik amidst the controversy surrounding his marriage with Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza, Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis has described the whole 'drama' as 'sad' and 'disappointing'.
"It is their personal matter and I really don't know the inside story but what I have seen in the media and the way the Indian media has portrayed the issue it is sad and disappointing," Waqar said.
Ever since the controversy came out in open late last month, several former and present Pakistani cricketers have expressed sympathy for Shoaib.
Former captain Rashid Latif backed Shoaib, saying the girl being shown on television channels as Ayesha is not the one his former teammate fell in love with during internet and telephone chats.
Rashid said he had seen the photographs of the girl with whom Shoaib used to chat on the Internet.
"Shoaib used to borrow my laptop for chatting with a girl and he did show me a few pictures of her. I can assure you that the girl I saw in pictures is not the one on TV these days," The Daily Times quoted Latif, as saying.
He also urged fellow cricketers to come forward and support Shoaib. (ANI)
