New Delhi, Apr 6 (ANI/Business Wire India): Formula OneT fans have voted Force India's achievement at the 2009 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix their LG Moment of the Year for 2009, as the results of the latest LG Global Fan Survey went public in this month's F1 Racing magazine.
Close to 90,000 people worldwide who took part in the wide-ranging survey were asked to choose their favourite moment of the 2009 F1 season, from 12 memorable events during the championship.
The majority of votes went to Force India's qualifying and race performances at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, where the team claimed its first pole position, podium finish and championship points in the sport, its best result to date.
"We at LG wanted to know directly from fans their favourite moment of the year, something that made them feel good: so we asked them the question," said Andrew Barrett, Vice President of Global Sponsorships for LG.
"We put it to the vote through the LG Global Fan Survey, and Force India's result in Spa came out top," added Barrett, who presented Force India Team Principal Dr Vijay Mallya with a specially-commissioned picture during this weekend's 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix.
"Congratulations to Force India and our thanks to the fans for getting involved bringing this moment to the forefront. We are planning to ask the public to vote for the 2010 LG Moment of the Year at the end of the season and we look forward to crowing the winners," Mallya said. (ANI)
