Sydney, Mar 16(ANI): Cricket New South Wales (NSW) has signed Sri Lankan batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan for next season's Twenty20 Big Bash in Australia.
"He is an outstanding all-round player as well as being one of the world's most destructive batsmen in Twenty20 cricket, he brings a wealth of international experience to our team," The Age quoted David Gilbert, Cricket NSW chief executive, as saying.
"We look forward to him playing a leading role in helping NSW win next season's Big Bash and thereby qualifying for the Champions League," he added.
The 33-year-old has an impressive Test record, where he has slammed 11 hundreds at an average of 40-plus in 60 matches, but Twenty20 is his speciality.
He became the headline act during the Twenty20 World Cup last year, unveiling a flick shot over his head that has since been copied to great effect by New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum.
Before Dilshan joins in, the Blues will also have to seek permission from the Sri Lankan Board. (ANI)
