Lahore, Mar 15(ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt has denied rumours that the board would opt for more than one captain for the different formats of the game.
"We will be selecting one captain for all three formats of the game, rather than two or more captains," PakPassion quoted Butt, as saying.
"We will make an announcement regarding who will be the next captain of the Pakistan team in a couple of days. What I can say is that it will not be more than one person," he added.
Butt, however, refused to disclose any particular name as the favourite for the role, or if he had met any player to discuss the issue.
"There's been a lot of speculation in the press with regards to who I have met and what was discussed, and some of it has been quite off the mark as usual. My door is always open and if any player wants to come and see me, then they know they are always welcome," Butt added.
With former captains Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan and Shoaib Malik banned by the board, the names of Salman Butt, Misbah ul Haq, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq are being mentioned. (ANI)
