PCB committee recommends fine, ban on players for violating code of conduct on Oz tour

Lahore, Tue, 09 Mar 2010 ANI

Lahore, Mar.9 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) inquiry committee looking into the national team's recent disastrous tour Down Under has recommended hefty penalties for wicket keeper Kamran Akmal and star all rounder Shahid Afridi for violating the player's code of conduct during the tour.

According to sources, the inquiry committee has proposed slapping a fine of three million rupees each on Akmal and Afridi for their misconduct.

"The inquiry committee, headed by PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Wasim Bari, has also recommended two million rupees fine and one-year ban each on former captain Shoaib Malik, pace bowler Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan and batsman Umar Akmal," The Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.

While Afridi could be penalised for his involvement in a shameful ball-tampering incident in the fifth and final one-dayer in Perth against Australia, Kamran and his brother Umar are likely to face action for giving statements to the media.

Akmal has also come under match fixing scanner as he dropped several catches against the hosts during the second Test match at Sydney. (ANI)
