London, Mar. 8 (ANI): As British F1 star Lewis Hamilton gears up for world title race, he has been warned by the former boss of Jenson Button that the reigning world champion has 'hidden steel'.
Mercedes chief Ross Brawn says the world champion's days of being a playboy are long gone, and the way the Frome Flier stormed to the world title last year proved the 30-year-old has hidden depths.
"Jenson sometimes puts on this fluffy exterior - but he has hidden steel. And he showed that last year. He was magnificent at the start of the season - but when things started to turn in the second half of the season he showed what he is made of," The Mirror.co.uk quoted Brawn, as saying.
His comments came as the entire grid prepares to jet out to Bahrain for the opening race of the season in six days' time.
Hamilton has already admitted that Button has shown electrifying pace in pre-season testing.
And McLaren have vowed to give the duo equal equipment all year.
Brawn also agrees with Nigel Mansell's belief that a world title may be beyond Michael Schumacher in his first year back from retirement with Mercedes.
"That is probably right. We want to win a few races but you never go into a season saying, 'this one is ours'. You aim to win races and if you can do that then everything else follows," he said. (ANI)
