London, Mar. 7 (ANI): While Peter Crouch is yet to cement his position in Fabio Capello's first choice World Cup squad, the Tottenham Hotspur striker insists that playing for England is more important for him than marrying his partner Abbey Clancy.
Crouch said he could contemplate seven weeks without Clancy.
"No marriage this summer. The World Cup is the most important thing," News of the World quoted him, as saying.
"When you are a kid, you dream of playing for England, dream of playing in a World Cup. But there were times - certainly at the start of my career - when you can't imagine it."
"There are players out there who you know are going to be world-beaters right from the start... Stevie Gerrard, Wayne Rooney. I had to go along a different road," he added.
Although Capello is grudging when it comes to praise Crouch, but the player has only admiration for the coach.
"I think he is very tactical, Italian-style. He's quite distant in some ways. You know he is the manager - you know he is the boss," he says.
"Obviously, you don't get to know what he is like as a person. He is very professional in the way he does things. He gets results."
"There is an aura about the man which comes through. You know when he walks in a room even if you are not looking. He commands total respect from all the boys. That helps when we get out on to the pitch," he added. (ANI)
