Deheadun, Mar 7 (ANI): Members of the Congress party staged a sit-in demonstration on Saturday against the Bharatiya Jananta Party-ruled Uttarakhand Government, accusing it of corruption in the sanction of hydel projects.
Hundreds of activists, including party workers and legislators, assembled at a park to stage the demonstration, demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the projects.
"The hydel projects are not yet complete and to whom it was sold, they sold it further and have earned a huge amount of money. We demand the sanction and completion of these projects so that Uttarakhand receives electricity," said Satpal Maharaj, a Congress lawmaker from Paudi region.
"The state government is unable to plan the distribution of electricity in the state because many factories are getting shut due to the lack of electricity. We want that the whole scam should get revealed to the public," Maharaj added.
The Congress lawmakers and legislators are planning to take up this issue during the state assembly session, starting from March 8. (ANI)
