Tiger Woods' negative ratings up 160pc since last summer

New York, March 5 (ANI): Tiger Woods' fans are still cold to the golfer even as his wife Elin Nordegren reportedly plans to return home.

A survey of 1,800 consumers by Q Scores revealed Woods' negative ratings have leaped 160 per cent since last summer so much so that he is the most negatively viewed athlete since Kobe Bryant faced rape accusations.

According to Q scores, the golfer's ratings have put him in the league of Jerry Springer and Lil' Kim. Last summer Paul McCartney and Alicia Keyes were his "negative" neighbours.

"There were significant declines in his appeal across every demographic, from younger adults to upper income and white collar households, which typically are into the sport of golf," the New York Daily News quoted Henry Schafer, lead researcher at Q Scores, as saying.

Woods' latest Positive Q score dipped to 16 in the recent weeks from 28 last summer. This means only 16 per cent of respondents named him as favourite.

His Negative Q score skyrocketed to 50 from 19 last summer, which means nearly 50 per cent of respondents who recognised his name rated him negatively.

While pointing out that Bryant is only 60 per cent back after six years and an NBA championship, Schafer said it could take something big for Woods to turn the public mood in his favour.

He said: "It takes a while. Obviously in golf Tiger has more opportunities to win and show he's a champion. But he took a pretty big hit."

Q Scores has been measuring celebrity star power for casting agents, advertisers and Fortune 500 companies for five decades. (ANI)
