NSA to visit Kabul to review security situation

New Delhi, March 1 (ANI): Three days after the Kabul suicide attack, in which six Indian citizens were killed and 10 others injured, the Union Government has asked National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon to review the security cover provided to its citizens in Afghanistan.

 

According to sources, Menon is likely to visit Kabul on March 5.

 

Indian has already sent a team of security experts to Kabul to assist the Indian Embassy to upgrade security given to Indian Nationals.

 

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has expressed deep concern over repeated attacks on Indian nationals in Kabul.

 

Menon would review the situation in Kabul and look at ways of securing Indians from the terror threat.

 

During his stay in Kabul, Menon is expected to meet top Afghanistan leadership, including President Hamid Karzai to discuss various aspects related to security of Indians engaged in developmental projects across the war torn country.

 

The terror attack in Kabul was on the pattern of the 26/11 Mumbai carnage, with six to eight terrorists targeting the hotels and hunting for victims during the strike in which six Indians were illed and 10 others injured. (ANI)
