London, Mar 01 (ANI): Nelson Mandela mistook 'Top Gear' presenter Jeremy Clarkson for an American astronaut when they met in Johannesburg.
The English broadcaster revealed that the former South African President thought, he and his telly sidekicks James May, and Richard Hammond were three spacemen he was due to meet.
Apparently, Mandela even asked what it was like on the moon.
"This was tricky. I couldn't say that we made a pokey television programme about cars because then he might wonder what on earth we were doing wasting his valuable time," the Daily Star quoted Clarkson as saying.
He added: "So, I did what I thought was best and said it was very rocky and dusty and there wasn't much gravity."
Moreover, Clarkson asked if the 91-year-old had been to a lap-dancing club.
But Mandela said "with much dignity" that he had not. (ANI)
