Chamot (Himachal Pradesh), Mar 1 (ANI): Villagers of Chamot village in Chamba district here paid tributes to Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) constable Roshan Lal, who was killed in the blast that rocked Kabul on February 26.
Constable Roshan Lal was deputed to Indo-Tibetan Border Police and was on a peace mission in Afghanistan.
His body arrived from Kabul on Sunday.
Lal's family members, friends, local administrative officers and officials of Indo-Tibetan Border Police eagerly waited with tears for the arrival of his mortal remains of the Indian soldier.
Lal's friend Mahesh Kumar, who was shocked to hear the news of his demise, said that they would like to fulfil the peace mission, which was incomplete.
"He was posted in the Embassy in Kabul for a peace mission. But we were shocked to hear the news about his death. Eight more Indian people lost their lives along with him. Now we feel it's our duty to fulfil that mission that they started," added Kumar.
Kuldeep Pathania, a local leader said that Lal's sacrifice was a matter of great encouragement for the youth to join armed forces.
"From this area, a lot of people are in service...in ITBP, in Indian Army, in Air Force...even in the police. His sacrifice will certainly provide a great boon to the rest of the youths to join the armed forces," said Pathania.
Lal was among the nine Indians, who lost their lives when Taliban suicide bombers attacked a guesthouse in the Afghanistan capital.
The blast that claimed 18 lives is seen as one of the biggest attacks in the capital since Taliban gunmen launched a brazen assault on several targets in the centre of the city on Januray 18. (ANI)
