Panaji, Feb 28 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Rajesh Adani, the Managing Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, on charges of customs duty evasion.
The anti-corruption branch of Goa Police had registered a case in April 2008 against nine custom officials of Goa and some private parties of Ahmedabad and Mumbai, who had offices in Goa also.
S.S Arun Gawali, Superintendent of Goa Police, said Rajesh Adani was arrested in Ahmedabad.
"We had arrested one of the directors of Adani Exports Limited and now we are continuing our investigation and the efforts are being made to bring him to Goa for his interrogation and his questioning in Goa," Gawali told reporters here.
The case related to import of naphtha and furnace oil in 2005-2006 and Goa Customs cleared the consignment of naphtha.
The charges relate to evasion of customs duties amounting to rupees 10 million due to under-valuation of the three imported consignments. (ANI)
