Sydney, Feb 25 (ANI/Business Wire India): Citigroup today announced the appointment of Joanne Allen as Head of Human Resources for Citi in Australia and New Zealand.

Joanne rejoins the company after two years managing a HR consulting business. Prior to this, she was with Citi for nine years, starting in London as a human resources generalist, then moving to Asia where she worked in a variety of roles including regional HR Head of Global Transaction Services.

"It's with great pleasure that we welcome Joanne back to the company and to a role in Australia," said Stephen Roberts, Country Officer for Citi Australia.

"Joanne brings a wealth of experience at a particularly important time in our growth. She will be instrumental in continuing to hire the best and brightest in the industry and establishing programs that will help men and women build successful careers within the bank."

Joanne has a Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Zoology) and a Master of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Sydney.

Peter Cappie-wood, who currently holds the position, will join Citi's regional Human Resources team, and will continue to be based in Sydney. His new role will focus on leadership development and efforts designed to build the talent pipeline for Citi in Asia Pacific.

Peter has been with Citi for eight years, starting as HR Head in Australia for the Institutional Clients Group (ICG), before moving to Hong Kong as regional head of Organisational Development for ICG, then returning to Australia to head the HR function for the whole franchise.

Terry Endsor, Regional Head of Human Resources, said, "I am particularly pleased to welcome Joanne back to Citi. She has held a number of senior roles in HR in both Europe and Asia and she has excelled in every role that she has taken on".

"I particularly like the way that she balances a demanding professional life with her role as mum to two wonderful little boys and I hope that she will serve as a role model for other professionals who are seeking to do the same. We are lucky to have her back," Mr Endsor said.

Citi has operations in 19 countries in the Asia Pacific region, and 140 countries worldwide. In Australia, Citi employs 1,800 people and provides financial services to consumers, corporates, institutions and governments. It has been in business in Australia for more than 30 years and today counts one million Australians, and 1,000 institutional clients as valued customers.

The structure of the business reflects the global organization. There are two major business divisions - Global Consumer Group (GCG) and the Institutional Clients Group. The respected brands of Citibank and Diners Club come together under the consumer group while the institutional business operates as Citi. ICG includes investment and corporate banking, capital markets, transaction services, and private banking. Citi also has a 49 percent stake in Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, one of Australia's leading wealth management first.

Citi is committed to diversity in the workplace and is recognized as an Employer of Choice for Women by the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Work Place Agency. It is committed to supporting the local community with programs in financial education, environmental sustainability and the development of children. Through each of these focus areas, Citi provides financial support and opportunities for employee involvement. (ANI)
