Abbey Road studios is now a listed building

London, Feb 24 (ANI): London's historic Abbey Road studios, which saw the Beatles record almost all their numbers, is now a listed building.

The Grade II status given to the venue means the plans to radically alter the building cannot be realised anymore.

Culture Minister Margaret Hodge, who listed the studios on the advice of English Heritage, said the venue had "produced some of the very best music in the world", reports the BBC.

Its owners EMI recently rubbished reports they were planning to sell it to ease debts.

Listing for the 3 Abbey Road property was granted due to its historic merit.

Future owners will have to ensure the character of the property is treated with respect.

However, internal changes can still be made.

EMI took over the ownership of the property after shelling out 100,000pounds in 1929. The company transformed it into the world-famous studios that have hosted renowned artists including the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Blur. (ANI)
