London, Feb.23 (ANI): England rival and close friend Andrew Flintoff has asked Australian pace spearhead Brett Lee to retire from Test cricket immediately.
Lee's retirement is likely to be made official on Friday with ongoing injuries playing a big role in his decision-making process.
Fourth on the all-time list of Australia wicket-takers, Lee will now choose to concentrate on his limited-overs career.
Flintoff, who retired from Test cricket last year, is reported to have taken Lee aside and convinced the injury-prone speedster to follow suit following his tough run of injuries
Lee's last appearance in the Test arena was in the 2008 Boxing Day clash at the MCG against South Africa.
According to Fox Sports, the decision will no doubt prolong his more lucrative career in the shorter format of the game with Lee reported to have already committed to Kings XI Punjab for the upcoming IPL season. (ANI)
