London, Feb.17 (ANI): England footballers are hoping to use a new boot to end their metatarsal misery.
According to the Daily Star, squad members are testing the revolutionary boot that makers claim can slash the odds of being hit by "the curse of the metatarsal".
The footwear, from bootmakers Concave, has layers of extra padding on the top to prevent the easily-damaged foot bones being broken.
Before the last World Cup, Wayne Rooney, 24, faced a battle to regain fitness after breaking his foot six weeks before the tournament began.
Other stars who have suffered metatarsal injury include Michael Owen, 30, and David Beckham, 34.
Designers of the FIFA-approved boot, which cost three million pounds and eight years to perfect, hope the injuries can now be consigned to history. (ANI)
