London, Feb 16 (ANI): Roman Polanski's film The Ghost Writer has won accolades at the Berlin film festival.
The political thriller starring Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan premiered last week and is one of 20 movies contending for the prized Golden Bear award for best flick.
"With this immensely enjoyable, satisfyingly convoluted thriller he demonstrates exactly why he is still a force to be reckoned with. From the opening scene it is clear Polanski had complete control, whether or not he was behind bars when he finished it," the Daily Express quoted a Times of London critic, as writing.
Polanski is presently under house arrest at his Swiss chalet and did not attend the premiere.
The Berlin film festival awards gala is slated to be held on February 20.
The Oscar-winning director had pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977 but fled the U.S. before his sentence could be pronounced.
He was arrested in Zurich last year and placed under house arrest later.
In January, a Los Angeles judge ruled Polanski must return to America to face sentencing. (ANI)
