The taxi pedomoter that shows saved fares - and calories!

London, February 16 (ANI): Japanese experts have come up with a pedometer that calculates how much money is saved on taxi fares and how many calories the passenger would have burned had he/she chosen to walk.

The Taxi Walker comes fitted with a "meter" which starts at the initial fare for most Tokyo taxis, around 5 pounds, which covers walking distances of up to 2 km.

Another 64p is added for every 280 metres travelled when the 2km post is past to emphasise how much money the walker is saving, The Telegraph reported.

Kayoko Sakaba, from creators Happinet, said the device, priced at 14.75 pounds and presently available only in Japan, was designed for an array of people.

She said: "Especially after going out for drinks, people often go home by taxi, so they can use it in such situations. It also shows the number of calories (burned), so as you're losing weight ou also feel like you're saving money." (ANI)
