Multiplexes in Gujarat not to screen Shahrukh's film

Ahmedabad, Fri, 12 Feb 2010 ANI

Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (ANI): Multiplexes in Gujarat have decided not to screen the Shahrukh Khan starrer 'My Name is Khan' following protests by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists, who burnt the posters of the movie.

Gujarat Multiplex Owners Association President Ashok Purohit said, "Multiplexes have decided not to screen the film for the first couple of shows which have been cancelled. But if the situation improves they will be screening the film later."

The activists of both the political activists trying to disrupt the screening of Shahrukh's movie are being detained in various locations of the city, said a police official.

The alleged activists of VHP and Bajrang Dal are following the footsteps of Maharashtra's Shiv Sena activists, who are upset with Khan's statements that Pakistani cricketers should be allowed to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) inspite of the 26/11-terror attack. (ANI)
