London, Feb 2(ANI): Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who is now in the form of his life, believes that his club can overhaul Chelsea at the top and hold onto their Premier League crown.
Rooney is confident that United can become the first team to win four titles in a row after their brilliant victory over Arsenal put them to within a point of leaders Chelsea.
"I hope we can kick on and win the title. We've won the last three and nobody's won four in a row, so hopefully we can break the record," The Mirror quoted Rooney, as saying.
"It's closer this year and more exciting. Chelsea and Arsenal are there. Liverpool have struggled but are a quality team and will be competing at the end of the season," he added.
In-form Rooney has hit an astonishing 23 goals already this season, which is not a bad return for a player who in the past has been questioned over his goals ratio.
The 24-year-old further said that he has worked hard on becoming a penalty box poacher and still enjoys also hitting long-range spectacular efforts.
"I've never really scored that many goals from inside the six-yard box over the years but I've been working on that - and thankfully it's starting to pay off. We did a test to see who had the hardest shot at Man United a couple of years ago and it was me and Scholesy," Rooney said.
"As a football fan, you like to see goals flying in from all over the place, but I've not really scored that many great goals. They've all been fairly similar! My favourite goal would be my second against Croatia at Euro 2004. I always like watching that goal," he added. (ANI)
