Shahrukh Khan draws Shiv Sena's flak for favouring Pak players

Nasik, Mon, 01 Feb 2010 ANI

Nasik, Feb 1 (ANI): Shiv Sena supporters on Sunday protested against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan who is also co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, for supporting the selection of Pakistan players in the third edition of the Indian Premier League tournament.

Shiv Sena activists tore down and burnt posters of Khan's upcoming film 'My Name Is Khan'.

"Uddhav Thackeray always thinks in favour of the nation and thus has ordered that he will certainly not allow Pakistani players to play in India. But some people only want to earn money, that is all. IPL has paralysed Shahrukh Khan in such a way that he is willing to call Pakistani players for IPL at the cost of India's prestige," said Pratap Mehraulia, Shiv Sena Corporator in the Nasik Municipal Corporation.

Protestors also gathered in front of Khan's bungalow called 'Mannat' in Mumbai, where they threw tickets from India to Pakistan at his gate asking him to leave for Pakistan.

Police rounded up a few miscreants.

"Based on information given to us, we deployed police force in advance to control the situation. We have detained several Shiv Sena activists for misbehaving and carrying out protest and case will be registered against them. And we will not allow any kind of violence in future also," said Amitabh Gupta, Additional Commissioner of Police. (ANI)
