Lahore, Jan.29 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing new central contracts that would emphasise on players' performance and fitness levels.
PCB Chief Operation Officer (COO) Wasim Bari made it clear that players who are not hundred percent fit and have not performed well in the recent past would not be offered the new central contract in 2010.
"Those players who are not fit or injured or have not performed will not get the new contracts."
Bari, however, said the board has no intention of reducing the monthly retainers given to players in the new contract.
"They will get the same amount-250,000 rupees in top category, 175,000 rupees for B category and 125,000 rupees for C category," The News quoted Bari, as saying.
Bari said the new clauses will be first discussed with the central contracts committee during a meeting before being incorporated by the board.
"We intend to give contracts to 28 to 29 players but we will also have stipends for the top performers in the domestic season and national under-19 team. We have around four new clauses in the contract which will be discussed with the central contracts committee," he added. (ANI)
