Hyderabad, Jan 26 (ANI): Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, who will be honoured with the nation's prestigious civilian Padma Shri award for the year 2010, said she dedicates the award to her parents.
In August last year, Nehwal was conferred the Arjuna award for her excellent performance in the game.
Nehwal said, "I was so happy but more than me, my parents were really happy about it. Getting a second award within 4 months is just amazing. I still can't believe that I got this award and I can just say that it's a very big day for me and also for badminton because the last year has been very good for me, getting so many awards and now the biggest award Padma Shri, it means a lot to me."
"I would like to dedicate this award to my parents and my coach who really worked hard with me. I think because of them I am here and achieving so much," she added.
Presently world junior champion, Saina Nehwal became the first Indian woman to reach the Olympic singles quarterfinals in Beijing last year. (ANI)
