Nevada (US), Jan 25 (ANI): Oscar nominated Australian film director-actor-producer-writer Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!) will paint a dance-themed mural on a hotel wall in India in the near future, according to reports.
It is said to be in collaboration with a Melbourne (Australia) based portrait painter Vincent Fantauzzo who won Archibald Prize for portrait of late Oscar winner Australian actor Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight).
The reports suggest that during this India visit, Mark Anthony "Baz" Luhrmann, 47, will also photograph villagers in Rajasthan and show an exhibition of his photographs in India's capital Delhi.
Welcoming Luhrmann on art-trip of India, Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed has urged world celebrities to explore the rich art heritage of India which dates back to Paleolithic and Neolithic periods with cave drawings and decorated pottery.
Rajan Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was great joy to experience the elements of vibrant contemporary Indian art immersed with culture, philosophy, and tradition.
Luhrmann's "live" painting event will reportedly be at "le Sutra-the Indian art hotel" in Pali Hill (Mumbai), whose recent inauguration was attended by various Bollywood stars, including Sharman Joshi, Chunky Pandey, Amrita Rao, and Prem Chopra. Each floor of this three-storied hotel is said to be characterized as Sattvic, Rajasic, and Tamasic; with Sattvic floor containing rooms like Nirvan, Prakriti, Mandala, and Shuddhi. "le Sutra", claimed to be India's first art hotel, is said to be the work of 18-25 designers, whose rooms focusing either on legendary 'characters' (Ashoka, Buddha, etc.) or 'characteristics' (purification, sensuality, etc), "tell a story".
