South Africa offers to host 'home' test series for Pak

Karachi, Mon, 25 Jan 2010 ANI

Karachi, Jan. 25 (ANI): In a bid to compensate for a cancelled test series that Pakistan was going to host in October, Cricket South Africa has offered to host a full test series for the South Asian country at the end of the year.

South Africa was originally scheduled to visit Pakistan for a three-test series and five one-day internationals but the tour is unlikely to go ahead due to the ongoing offensive against the Taliban and other militants in parts of the country.

A PCB spokesman said that South Africa was keen to play and host the matches close to the riginal schedule.

"They have offered to host our 'home' series in South Africa but we are looking at other options like playing at neutral venues including the United Arab Emirates," The Dawn quoted the PCB spokesman, as saying.

Teams have been reluctant to tour Pakistan since militants attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore last year in which six policemen and a driver were killed and six players wounded.

Later this year, Pakistan will play two 'home' tests against Australia in England. (ANI)
