London, Jan 23(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking forward to use Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook's bar-room boasts to rally his players for next week's Carling Cup semi-final between the two teams at Old Trafford.
Cook was seen bragging into a microphone to fans at a New York bar called The Mad Hatter. His rant included: "When, not if, we get to Wembley..." and "Without doubt we will become the biggest club in the world".
The speech has heightened the tension and expectation ahead of the game, with City leading 2-1.
"You can bet Sir Alex will be using this to wind his players up, not that they need it for this game," The Sun quoted a United insider, as saying."It is clear United is the biggest club in the world and the suggestion that City can take our place is somewhat bemusing," the insider added.
Ferguson refused to comment on any questions about defender Gary Neville and City forward Carlos Tevez, but he is reportedly angered by Tevez's behaviour and City's boasts, and is desperate to win the second leg. (ANI)
