Playing in front of Prince William, a huge high, says 'King' Federer

Melbourne, Fri, 22 Jan 2010 ANI

Melbourne, Jan. 22 (ANI): Roger Federer, widely regarded as the king of tennis, has said playing in front of important people like Prince William of England is extremely special and a great pleasure.

Speaking to the media after thrashing Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-2 6-3 6-2 in an Australian Open encounter on Thursday, The Sun quoted Federer, as saying: "I've had situations where someone walked in and there was a big round of applause. I'm used to it because I play a lot of prime-time matches where there are very important people watching. But this one (in front of Prince William) was obviously extremely special. It's a pleasure, of course, playing in front of him."

"Playing in front of friends and parents early on used to be intimidating. Then it goes to other athletes, actors and musicians and now His Royal Highness. It just moves on. Where he comes from, he knows tennis, as Wimbledon's big. So for me, it was a big honour. We had a nice chat," he added. (ANI)
