Lahore, Wed, 20 Jan 2010 ANI

Lahore, Jan.20 (ANI): Concerned by the deplorable condition of the country's film industry, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has formed a committee to submit recommendations for its revival.

During a meeting with a delegation of film artists and producers at the Governor's House here, Zardari announced the formation of a committee, which would look into the reasons behind the deteriorating condition of the entertainment industry and ways to resurrect the same.

Zardari was apprised of the difficult situation facing Lollywood during the meeting, The Daily Times reports.

During the meeting, Zardari highlighted that most of the cinema halls across the country were in an awful condition and lacked modern facilities.

He also stressed on the need to improve facilities in theatres to lure more people.

"We can seek the support of multinational companies and allocate part of the international aid meant for cultural activities to revive our film industry," Zardari said when delegates told him that the film industry badly needed an advanced and sophisticated film processing laboratory.

The delegation also told Zardari that the industry could play a major role in improving Pakistan's international image and help in the anti-terror operations. (ANI)
