New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will on Tuesday meet his junior ministers to hear their complaints about not having enough work to do.
Dr Singh's cabinet has 38 junior ministers. Despite efforts, he has not been successful in getting a larger profile for them.
Most junior ministers in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government are upset that their senior cabinet ministers are not allocating work to them.
Minister of State (Urban Development) Saugata Roy said, "Everybody knows that Ministers of States do not have a role to play."
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni said, "It is for this purpose the Prime Minister has called the meeting to get a better perspective and some of them have not been given work."
As reported, both Dr Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi are eager to allot a bigger job profile to the junior ministers in order to groom them for future roles.
Minister of State (Surface Transport) RPM Singh said, "We have met the PM individually but this is the first time we are meeting him together and it is important to get an understanding of what he wants from us." (ANI)
