New Delhi, Jan.15 (ANI): Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor will be visiting Colombia, Peru and Dominican Republic on an official visit from January 18-25.
Tharoor will visit Colombia at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of Colombia, Jaime Bermudez. Both the leaders are scheduled to hold talks.
During his visit Tharoor will also call on President of Colombia Álvaro Uribe Vélez and other Ministers of his Cabinet.
"The visit coincides with the celebrations of the establishment of 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Colombia. An Agreement for Cooperation in Health will be signed which will provide opportunities for joint research in medical health as well as open up further opportunities for Indian Pharma companies in Colombia," stated an MEA communiqué on Friday.
Tharoor will visit Peru at the invitation of Foreign Minister of Peru, Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde from Jan. 20 to 22. He will call on the President of Peru, Dr. Alan Garcia Pérez, and other Ministers of his Cabinet.
"Tharoor will hold the first India-Andean Group dialogue during the Peruvian Presidency of the Andean Group beginning this year. An MoU for setting up of an Indian IT centre in Peru and an agreement between Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and Peruvian Centre for International Studies (CEPEI) will be signed during the visit," it added.
Tharoor will also visit Dominican Republic from Jan.23 to 25 at the invitation of President of Dominican Republic Dr. Leonel Antonio Fernandez Reyna.
"He will meet with the Foreign Minister H.E. Carlos Morales Troncoso and other important ministers of the Government of DR. An MoU for an IT Centre will be signed during the visit, the MEA release further stated. (ANI)
