Islamabad, Jan.15 (ANI): A niggling knee-injury has dampened the hopes of left-arm Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanveer making a come back in the national squad, as he has been sidelined from both the one day and T20 teams for Australia.
Tanvir expressed his disappointment at not being able to make it for the tour Down Under.
"I was hopeful that I would be fit for the matches in Australia, but unfortunately the knee is not hundred percent right. I discussed the situation with the selectors and we thought it's best that I rest," PakPassion.net quoted Tanvir, as saying.
"The medical experts have given me the go ahead to start playing again from January 18, but the first one dayer in Brisbane is on January 22 , which meant that I wouldn't have had enough time to get some match practice under my belt and to be totally right for the games in Australia," he added.
Tanveer, however, said that he is looking forward to playing a major role in Pakistan's future assignments.
"Missing the games in Australia is a big blow for me, but I am confident that I will be fully fit and ready for the matches in the UAE next month and then of course the T20 World Cup in May if selected," he said. (ANI)
