Pune, Jan 13 (ANI): Over 2700 classical singers came together for a historic classical music symphony in Pune on Tuesday.
Organised by the Art of Living Foundation of spiritual and humanitarian leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the three-hour concert showcased a repertoire of Indian classical music and provided a platform for its exponents.
A mammoth 27,000-square feet wooden stage with a 20-feet high backdrop was especially built for the concert.
Ravi Shankar stressed the need to educate the youth about traditional music.
"We need to encourage today's youth towards our music and tradition. Many people have come forward for the concert. There are budding talents in the country, which we need to nurture," he added.
Musicians and celebrity singers like Shankar Mahadevan Pt Rajan and Sajan Misra also took part in the mega event.
In 2006, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's the Art of Living had entered the Guinness Book of World Records with 1200 Mohiniattam dancers performing together on one stage in Kerala.
The foundation also brought over 1000 sitar exponents for a historic sitar concert titled 'Brahmnaad' in New Delhi in November 2008, in aid of the Bihar Relief and rehabilitation. ANI)
