Bresnan is eyeing to play in IPL

London, Jan 12 (ANI): England cricketer Tim Bresnan is eyeing a deal to play in the Indian Premier League.

Bresnan is one of nine Englishmen vying for a place in the lucrative IPL, having been nominated for a place in the player auction on January 19.

"I've had an interesting couple of weeks since I got back from South Africa. I wasn't even thinking about the IPL when I got a phone call saying they were interested. So I've thrown my hat into the ring, but I'm not expecting anything," Bresnan said.

"If the cash comes along, so be it. I'm not a big-name player, so I wouldn't expect too much," The Sun quoted Bresnan, as saying.

With 21 caps in one-day and Twenty20 cricket to his name, the 24-year-old still believes he has a long way to go before he can consider himself an international regular.

He said: "The World Twenty20 would be fantastic to play in. So if I did get an IPL deal and played well, I could get a lot closer to that England team. My debut series against Sri Lanka was tough, but I wouldn't be the cricketer I am now were it not for that."

"If you come through it you become stronger. Not just as a player, but as a person. And since then I've improved and played all forms of the game for England. I had no issues missing out on the Ashes this summer. You can't keep Flintoff out of the side if he's fit - it doesn't matter who you are.

"He is a big match player, so I understood they couldn't leave him out. It just wasn't my time. But I'm hoping to get my chance again against Bangladesh hopefully. Just give me the ball, not matter who it is against, I just enjoy playing for England," Bresnan said. (ANI)
