New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday expressed concern over reports of China occupying "substantial amount" of Indian territory along the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh region of Kashmir.
Newspapers reported on Monday that at a recent meeting of officials from Jammu and Kashmir government, Union Home Ministry and Army, it was accepted that the Indian area has shrunk over a period of time at the LAC.
Expressing grave concern over the reports, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said people of the country have a right to know the reality.
"We would want to ask the Prime Minister as to what is the truth behind this issue. People of the country have a right to know the reality regarding such acts of incursion," Rudy added.
Last month there were reports that authorities in Kashmir have stopped work on a mountainous road near the border with China after objections from the Chinese army, underlining a festering row over the border.
Tensions have risen between India and China in the last few months over reports in the Indian media about border intrusions by the Chinese army. A visit by the Dalai Lama to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, which China considers of South Tibet, has added to the mistrust between the neighbours. (ANI)
