Melbourne, Jan 10 (ANI): Another dazzling batting display against Victoria in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, can bolster opener Shaun Marsh chances for a spot in the national team.
The Warriors kept their KFC Big Bash hopes alive with a win over New South Wales on Tuesday evening, after Marsh's century at the top of the order.
Marsh scored 108 from 54 deliveries and shared a record 168-run opening stand with Wes Robinson that laid the platform for the 1-198 total.
Andrew Hilditch and his fellow Australian selectors watched Marsh's fine knock, the second highest score in domestic Twenty20 history, with keen interest, FOX Sports reports.
The selectors will keenly follow Marsh's action on Sunday to see if he can back it up.
"Shaun Marsh's innings reminded me of my young days. He dominated from the word go," said Chris Gayle.
The 26-year-old has played 19 ODIs for Australia and is now viewed as one of the next in line for Test selection.
Meanwhile, Marsh is more worried about-facing Victoria pacer Dirk Nannes than waiting for his phone to ring.
"At the end of the day I haven't thought about one-day cricket, my sole focus for this year has been playing well with WA with my teammates and good friends. I have taken that attitude and it seems to be working at the moment so I will keep going down that path and if I keep doing that, other things will take care of themselves," Marsh said. (ANI)
