Melbourne, Jan 9(ANI): Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has said that the visiting Pakistan team's confidence would have been badly hurt after losing the second Test and will be carrying mental scars into the third in Hobart, starting January 14.
Siddle has had a lean summer with the ball, but played a major role with middle-order batsman Mike Hussey for a record ninth-wicket stand of 123 runs that hauled Australia back into the Test match.
"'Coming from a stage [in] the first innings where they were 200 runs in front, it was a big lead and obviously a good opportunity to beat a side like Australia," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Siddle, as saying.
"For us to fight back and put a lot of pressure on them with the bat at the end and with the ball ... it's definitely going to hurt them and definitely play on their minds coming into Hobart," he added.
Talking about his form, Siddle said that he was bowling confidently and felt the wickets would come if he keeps working hard.
"It is disappointing not to be taking the wickets you'd like, but personally I feel like I'm bowling well. As a unit we're definitely doing well, taking 20 wickets and winning Test matches that's what we're about and it's going well at the moment. I feel comfortable with where I'm going and the team has been winning, that's the main thing," Siddle said.
"If I worry about the wickets that's when they definitely won't come. I've just got to be happy with how I'm going, it is coming out well and I'm confident it will turn around. I've just got to keep going out there, doing the right things from my end and hopefully in the next game or so it can be my turn to take that bag," he added. (ANI)
