Car alarm named 'most irritating piece of technology ever invented'

London, Sat, 09 Jan 2010 ANI

London, Jan 9 (ANI): Car alarms have pipped egg timer and alarm clocks to be voted the most irritating piece of technology ever invented, says a poll.

The screeching sirens were followed by the egg timer which appears on computer screens when information is loading, and computers in general at the second and third positions.

Speed cameras came fourth in the poll of 5,000 people, reports The Telegraph.

A spokesman for mobile phone recycling site www.PhonePiggyBank.com said: "Car alarms can be the bane of many people's lives - waking them up, or stopping them from nodding off at night.

"But everyone dreads seeing the egg timer pop onto their PC screen, it normally means you're in for a long wait.

"And computers crashing, the dreaded Windows 'bong' sound and temperamental printers proves how much of a blight PCs are on our lives.

"Novelty door bells are far too cheesy and being woken up by your alarm clock is never fun.

"No matter how much they irritate us, they are all designed to make our lives easier in some way, however frustrating they are."
