Jammu and Kashmir pre-paid mobile ban cannot be withdrawn, says Centre

New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): The Central Government has informed the Supreme Court that the ban on prepaid mobiles in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be withdrawn, as terrorist activities further increased in the region since the ban was executed.

 

The ban was imposed in the state due to security reasons.

 

The Supreme Court had set January 8, 2010, for hearing of the petition filed by the National Panthers Party challenging the ban imposed on the use of prepaid mobile connections in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

The case will be taken up next on January 25, and the petitioner National Panthers Party has been asked to reply to the stand taken by the Central Government. (ANI)
