Lahore, Jan 7(ANI): Pakistan chief selector Iqbal Qasim has said that the selectors have decided against sending former skipper Younus Khan for the third Test against Australia, but will consider him for the ODI series thereafter.
Qasim said that the selectors want to give Younus more time to regain his form by playing in the domestic circuit, before sending him on national duty.
"We believe that Younus has a definite role in Pakistan team and we would like to see him join the team for the five one-day internationals," The Daily Times quoted Qasim, as saying.
"We want him to regain his batting confidence," he added.
Earlier, captain Mohammad Yousuf had made desperate calls to send the experienced batsman to Australia to bolster the batting line-up, which has failed in the series so far.
"Obviously Younus is a very experienced player and a very good player. He's got a 50 average in Test matches. We miss him a lot. He is a very crucial No.3. We already told them (PCB) to send him. I don't know when he is coming," Yousuf had said.
Pakistan has lost the three-Test match series 2-0, and will play the final test in Hobart, starting on January 14. (ANI)
