Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 5 (ANI): The Gorakhpur police here have beefed up security measures along the India-Nepal border to safeguard against terrorist attacks.
Following intelligence reports about the possibility of insurgents crossing the border, the security personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have become alert and are monitoring the movements along the Sonoli border in the State.
The flight of three Pakistani terrorists from New Delhi has added to the concerns of the SSB officials.
The locals here are amazed to see the security measures being taken by the SSB officials.
"Earlier the security was not much, but now it has increased," said Krishna Tiwari, a local.
The security personnel are keeping a close vigil on everyone who crosses the border and are conducting stringent checks on their belongings.
"We got instructions that some insurgents might be crossing over and so we have been asked to maintain strict vigil," said SSB Sub-Inspector Shakti Prakash Uniyal.
"Because India-Nepal border is porous, there are incidents of ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) agents, those indulging in counterfeit currencies were on rise and so the deployment of the forces by the authorities is very appropriate," said India-Nepal Friendship Organisation President Srichand Gupta.
