Taliban threat to Railways in Bihar, security beefed up

Patna, Jan 5 (ANI): The Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has sounded a high alert in eastern and east central railway zones in Bihar following intelligence reports of possible attack. Top police officials in Patna and other cities like Katihar and Jamalpur have been alerted that Taliban-trained suicide squads might target railway installations.

 

"On the basis of information received, concerned authorities have been alerted," said Anand Shankar, Director General of Police, Bihar.

 

"If they have got information from some source or if there is some intelligence input from New Delhi then security personnel would keep an eye. And Bihar police is competent for any such situation and they always fulfil their responsibilities. And if any input of such sort is received then state's and the central intelligence agencies take care of such matters and share the information. Even if some unconfirmed reports are there then also concerned officials remain on alert," said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

 

As per media reports, the Intelligence Bureau had recently tipped off the Bihar police about some well-trained militants from Nepal entering the state to attack railways installations. (ANI)
