Adelaide, Jan 4 (ANI): Pakistan's Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi has endorsed Test skipper Mohammad Yousuf's call for Younis Khan to be restored to the Test side currently playing Australia in the second match of the series in Sydney.
Afridi said Younis' experience of South Australian wickets would be invaluable for the team.
"I think at the moment Yousuf wants him [Younis] and it depends on the selectors," the all-rounder said.
"I hope he comes back as he played a domestic season as well here so he has a lot of experience. He has a 50 average in Test cricket so he should be in the squad," The Dawn quoted Afridi, as saying
Yousuf said he wanted Younis in his side for the second Test that started in Sydney on Sunday. But the red tape required to confirm his selection means that Younis was unable to play in the third Test in Hobart.
Afridi said he would gladly play if called up by the Test touring party, but was yet to hear from the selectors.
"A lot of people they are asking me this question but I am totally focused on my one-day and Twenty20 until the 2011 World Cup. Definitely, if they needed me I can't say no to them."
Afridi also backed fellow leg-spinner Danish Kaneria's inclusion for the Sydney Test. (ANI)
