Will Young single tops decade chart in UK

London, Jan 1 (ANI): Will Young has topped the Official Charts Company figures with the biggest selling single of the decade.

 

Fellow reality show stars Gareth Gates, Alexandra Burke, Shayne Ward and Hear'Say also made it to the top 10.

 

Young's 2002 debut release Anything Is Possible/Evergreen sold 1.8 million copies, while Gareth Gates bagged the second spot with his rendition of "Unchained Melody", which sold 1.3 million copies.

 

The singles chart saw X Factor winners Burke and Ward occupying the fifth and eighth places respectively.

 

Short-lived Popstars group Hear'Say was ranked ninth with their hit "Pure and Simple".

 

X Factor 2006 winner Leona Lewis' record "Spirit" was listed at the fourth position in the albums of the decade.

 

James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" was the best-selling album with 3.2 million copies sold.

 

Blunt said he was gland with the honour.

 

"I'm glad so many people enjoyed it," the Mirror quoted him as saying.

 

Dido appeared twice in the top 10 album of the decade chart, including second place for "No Angel", which sold over three million copies, as did Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black", which stood at the third place.

 

Charity single also bagged top honours with Tony Christie's "Is This The Way To Amarillo" taking third spot, and Band Aid 20's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in sixth place.

 

Children's character Bob the Builder, voiced by Neil Morrissey also won a proud place with it's 2000 Christmas number one "Can We Fix It?" coming 10th in the singles chart.

 

The Beatles' compilation album "1" was the biggest selling greatest hits record, with 2.9 million sales. (ANI)
