Murli Manohar Joshi calls for rectifying gaps in climate change

Patna, Fri, 25 Dec 2009 ANI

Patna, Dec 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi has voiced his party's displeasure over the country's representation in the recent global meet at Copenhagen on Climate Change, and said there are several issues which had been eclipsed.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Joshi suggested that it is high time that India comes to a common conclusion on the climate change and take the lead in getting all the developing countries under one umbrella.

"Time has come for India to put down their exact view in front of the world and all those nations that are distressed with the bad consequences of the climate change should be brought under one umbrella. India should lead them or else even in this matter we'll face many difficulties in the near future," he said.

He also said that his party would make the common man of India aware of the distressing consequences of the climate change and especially those who will be worst-affected with the situation, the farmers in particular.

"BJP has put down their views clearly on this matter in the parliament and we are raising our voice to remove all those shortcomings which are there in the agreement immediately. We, through a mass awareness programme, will make the common man aware of the bad consequences of the climate change, especially the farmers," he added.

He also sought participation of all the political parties in India to come forward and take a joint stand on the issue of climate change as that could only save the country from a future of bad climate. (ANI)
