Gayle insists of momentum despite double injury blow

Perth, Tue, 15 Dec 2009 ANI

Perth, Dec 15(ANI): West Indies skipper Chris Gayle has said that injury blow to the squad would not kill team's momentum ahead of the third Test against Australia starting at Perth on Wednesday.

West Indies side will miss the service of batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and opener Adrian Barath, who are suffering from a finger and hamstring injury respectively.

"The momentum is still there. We've lost two key players, it would have been nice to have them around, but that's not the case. But, we're still ready for it, we are up for it. It takes everyone to go out there and have a good five days of cricket, and then we can come out victorious," AAP quoted Gayle, as saying.

"Guys who have been sitting around will be up for it as well, they will want to go out there and prove themselves and make a name for themselves and make some runs," he added.

Meanwhile, Travis Dowlin and Narsingh Deonarine will be rushed into the XI as their replacements.

West Indies is currently trailing Australia 1-0 in the three-Test series. (ANI)
