London, Dec.15 (ANI): Manchester United's Welsh star Ryan Giggs has said that all he could think about at the BBC Sports Personality Awards was how the club lost to Aston Villa, and how this defeat has motivated him to continue turning out for it.
Giggs became the first footballer in eight years to scoop the Beeb gong and he feels it is proof he is not be ready to hang up his boots for some time.
The Sun quoted Giggs, as saying: "If anything I'm getting hungrier as the years go by. I was sat there at the ceremony and trying to take everything in, but still thinking about the Aston Villa game. It still hurts losing. If defeats are still hurting you and the desire is still there, then I will carry on. At the moment, that's definitely the case."
Giggs, 36, has enjoyed a memorable year. He claimed a record 11th Premier League title, won the PFA Footballer of the Year award and has now emulated ex-Old Trafford team-mate David Beckham by winning the Sports Personality award.
"I am probably playing the best I ever have and am enjoying it more than I ever have," he said after claiming almost 30 per cent of the half-a-million votes cast. (ANI)
