The books can then be returned when the mobile library arrives the following week.he cost of a membership is subsidized, with a minimum of 60 Rupees per year and 500 Rupees for a lifetime membership.
The three mobile libraries, out of which one is for women and the other two for children, have garnered a good response and are popular amongst the citizens.
Ranjan Boricha, a housewife, felt that earlier it was quite difficult to access the library but the mobile library had made things easier.
"I and the women of my society are members of the mobile library. We gather to read books on knitting, home dicor, cookery, rangoli and mehendi designs. We have also suggested some books that we would like to read to the mobile library authorities. Earlier, we would not get the time to go to libraries due to household chores and children, but now that the library comes to our area, we make it a point to go and read the books," said Boricha.
Bhamini Bhatt, another housewife, said: "I think it is a great initiative. That books are a person's best friends is a very true saying. It's a productive activity that enhances our knowledge. We get to learn something new from different books that we read unlike, earlier when we used to while away our time by gossiping."
This new innovation of mobile library may now rekindle the hobby of reading amongst the women and children in the city. (ANI)
