Victoria still wants Woods to play in Melbourne in 2010

Melbourne, Sun, 13 Dec 2009 ANI

Melbourne, Dec. 13 (ANI): Australian golf officials are hoping to tempt Tiger Woods to return to Melbourne next year, despite his decision to take indefinite retirement from professional golf.

According to The Age, Woods' decision to take a break from the game to repair his personal life has prompted concern of a massive economic backlash for the sport.

It sparked emotional outbursts from fellow players, including John Daly, in Queensland for the Australian PGA Championships, who urged Woods to sort out his personal problems and return to the sport.

Woods first played golf at the age of two, won six junior world championships, three junior amateur championships and was US amateur champion three times in succession before turning professional in 1997. Since then, he has won 15 world titles. (ANI)
