Injured Siddle confident of playing West Indies in Perth

Melbourne, Thu, 10 Dec 2009 ANI

Melbourne, Dec 10(ANI): Injured Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has told his ready replacement for the third Test against West Indies, Clint McKay, that he is confident of playing in Perth.

Siddle injured his hamstring in the second Test and played only a limited part in the draw, and scans have shown that he has a small strain and some bleeding in his left hamstring.

Confirming it, McKay said: "Today was our first day off together for a while and we actually ended up catching up for lunch."

"He is pretty confident he is going to play. He's got seven days until the next game and he's going to see the physio quite a bit in that week, and he feels pretty confident about it all," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted McKay, as saying.

For McKay, a baggy green cap feels closer than it did when he was included in the squad for Adelaide behind Doug Bollinger. This time there is a very real chance he will play, but having spoken with Siddle in Melbourne, he is not getting ahead of himself.

"It's a great thrill and I just can't wait to be a part of the squad again. If I get tapped on the shoulder to play it would be excellent, but if not I will keep chipping away and hopefully my time comes soon," McKay said. (ANI)
